Also check out my shop to the right where I've started compiling all the electro swing essentials in one place! so no more random browsing to find something new and interesting!

I've been gone almost two weeks burrowing my way through the warren that is the internet to get some tasty treats to start us all off!

First up we have Odjbox. He's already moving the genre in twisting new directions, moving from the sample full swing hop to a more electronic originality that takes the 20's kicking and screaming into the age of computer music production. Check out underbelly at his soundcloud - http://soundcloud.com/odjbox - for a perfect example of this!

Hes kindly sent me over two of his best Special Art and The Witching Hour! Enjoy!

White Mink : Black Cotton

Whilst I'm busy spending my time searching the net for new music I thought I would bring you something to pour your time over! White Mink:Black Cotton has been called "Electro-Swing's first landmark moment" by Mixmag and its easy to see why. Such a landmark moment is therefore a great place to start this blog's
Electro-Swing adventures!

Check out the 30 minute free sample mix of the album!

Various - WHITE MINK 30 min album sampler mix by FreshlySqueezed

The album put together by Nick Holywood of Freshly Squeezed fame (along with El Nino and Lady Kamikaze of London's fine Black Cotton and Lady Luck clubs) exists in the form of a seamless juxtaposition between long forgotten classics of the original era and the contemporary movement they've  inspired.

It really acts as a who's who of the genre which makes it a great introduction for all those who've had the slice of a few tracks and want a bigger piece of the pie. Strasbourg's Lyre Le Temps present us with a House inspired Hold The Night that  really makes the collection if I have to pick favourites. The more hip hop influenced tracks are also in show with an excellent take on the genre from Energie Du Verre with Jitterbug that really reinvents things.

If your out and about in the UK you can look out for several festival appearances coming up at Bestival and
Big Chill. You can also check out Electro Swing every third Saturday of the month at The Book Club in Shoreditch and White Mink will be every third Friday of the month in Brighton from September.

Hey all and Welcome to Flapper5, (Flappers was taken),

This is a new blog committed to searching out the latest in electro-swing and all styles thereabouts.
After finding that I'm constantly making my friends listen to the likes of Parov Stelar and Movits! , I feel that the next step in sharing the music I enjoy is here with all of you!

Don't let that fool you into thinking that the well established names are all I'll be posting up here though! I'm Dedicated to using my free time to trawl the net, looking for the best of the unknown for fellow electro-swing enthusiasts.

I'm never going to be posting Copywrighted tracks for download. So don't expect any big name free tracks! However I to get in touch with artists and hopefully provide some free promotional downloads with their blessing for you!

The aim here is to not to share my tastes though! Its to help the artists too, by making another platform from which they can reach out! Its also to help promoters advertise their nights to get kids in the clubs! Its all about Spreading the Swing!
